48 Week Work Placement Scheme

Winner Springboard Awards for excellence, 2005 and 2006

A career in pub management is a satisfying and rewarding one. Mitchells & Butlers is the UK’s leading operator of managed pubs and restaurants offering eating, drinking and entertainment in over 2000 outlets.

And we can offer some of the most exciting management challenges in the industry.

We operate market leading brands such as O’Neill’s, Edward’s, Scream, Hollywood Bowl, All Bar One, Vintage Inns and Toby Carvery.

We also operate many of the most famous classic and historical pubs in the country including The Horseshoe in Glasgow - where Travis were first discovered; the White Horse at Parsons Green in London - famous for its range of cask and bottled beers and the Philharmonic in Liverpool which is full of late Victorian splendor and an ornate décor.

To enable us to maintain our leading position in the industry, we only recruit people of the highest caliber to run our outlets. We also ensure that these people are given every opportunity to reach their full potential in a career and environment that is right for them.

A Programme that delivers success

The Placement scheme is designed for students who have a real passion and flair for the licensed retail industry and wish to join the hands–on management team and pursue a career in pub or restaurant management. The structured programme offers candidates a well-defined development plan to maximise their potential and reach their career ambition as their talent and determination allow.

Our Progress Graduate scheme allows graduates the opportunity to enter a hands-on management training scheme. We believe that by offering similar opportunities to placement students we can support the many Universities offering Licensed Retail Management, Hospitality and Business Management Courses.

Following successful assessment, candidates are then eligible to enter the company as a team leader in one of our pubs, bars or restaurants. A wide range of vacancies are available across the whole country, however the more flexible candidates are the more opportunities will be available to them.

On appointment as a team leader on the 48-week Placement scheme, your job will involve;

  • Training all new team members to the standard of a ‘competent’ bar person.
  • Acting as a brand guardian for food and drink dispense
  • Ensuring fast efficient service to all customers regarding food, drink, cash handling, till use and all aspects of customer relations

After completion of the required training you will assist the management team in the day to day running of the business.
