Graduate Programme Apply Now
Corporate Graduate Programme - Applications now closed.
Please note that applications for our October 2010 intake are now closed. Our online application system will re-open in August 2010 for an October 2011 intake.
During the application process, you will be asked to provide the following:
- Personal information and contact details
- Information on where you first heard about the graduate scheme
- Your preferred business function(s)
- Details of your previous work experience
- Details of your academic achievements (please note that to progress you will need to have achieved minimum grades of A,B,B at A level, and a 2:1 degree qualification)
- Answers to two industry-related questions
Please Note:
Once you have submitted your application and completed the tests, you will be unable to re-access your application. If you want to keep a record of your application, which might be useful to refer to if you reach the telephone interview stage, then we would advise printing the pages as you progress through the form.
Once you have submitted your application form and it is successful, the selection process is as follows:
- Numerical and verbal online testing - your application will automatically be progressed to these tests, but you can exit and complete at another time if you so wish.
- Telephone interview - if you are successful at the numerical and verbal reasoning tests, you will be invited to book yourself in for a phone interview. During the interview, which will usually last no more than 30 minutes, you will be asked a range of questions. Some of these will be industry-related, whilst others will focus more on you and your personal interests.
- Discovery Day - the next stage is the Discovery Day, which is held at our head office in central Birmingham. The Discovery Day is very much a 2-way process: it provides you with an opportunity to find our more about Mitchells & Butlers, and whether our graduate scheme is the one for you, whilst also giving us the opportunity to learn more about you.
In terms of the assessed elements, you will be asked to participate in a group exercise, to deliver an individual presentation to either one or two assessors, and complete a paper-based numerical reasoning test.
All of our assessors at this stage in the process are current and former graduates - who better to answer any questions you might have, and to help us identify the best candidates to join us in the future?
- Assessment Centre - the final stage in the selection process is the Assessment Centre. This is a longer day, consisting of another group exercise, a negotiation exercise and a structured interview. The assessors on this day are our Senior Managers and Directors, who ultimately decide which graduate(s) to recruit into each of the functions.
Again, the Assessment Centre provides you with a further opportunity to ask any questions you may have about either Mitchells & Butlers in general, or the graduate scheme in particular.
